Original Fic: Excerpt
Jul. 12th, 2012 10:28 amTitle: Martin and the Magical Contract
Rating/Warnings: PG-13; possible R for discussion of an occult nature; death
Summary: A magical contract comes across the desk of a London solicitor.
The British headquarters of Cy-Gam are located in a low cinder block edifice in a nondescript industrial park outside London. Huge black letters spell out the company's name on all four sides. Vehicles in various states of repair are scattered through the wide car park and an automated gate swings open to admit through traffic.
A visit to the company's website reveals that Cy-Gam makes sensors for various electronic devices, among other things. The website features an informercial and a page of worldwide contact information.
In short, Cy-Gam is exactly like every other business in the world, except in one important respect.
It does not exist.
The headquarters building is real enough, but the rest is an elaborate lie. The organization behind Cy-Gam has existed as long as memory, and it trades not in goods, but in magic.

Date: 2012-07-13 03:58 am (UTC)The thing with NaNoWriMo is that I'm never able to do it properly. This time, I'm hoping that if I at least have a concrete outline in mind, I'll actually finish. *fingers crossed*

Date: 2012-07-13 05:12 am (UTC)I totally understand with nanowrimo. I've won twice, but not since 2005. Every year I attempt it without a solid plan in place, I make it about a week. *sigh* I might try to do a rewrite of my 2005 novel - I told
If I do decide to do nano this year, want to be writing buddies? :)

Date: 2012-07-13 02:09 pm (UTC)Absolutely. When NaNo kicks off, we should try to get together (virtually, of course) for write-ins and such. I'm much more excited about NaNo now than I was even a few days ago, so thanks for that. :)

Date: 2012-07-13 03:45 am (UTC)I really love the setting with the first floor parking garage and am rooting for an action scene later. ;) It looks like this will make a great concept to propel a NaNo!

Date: 2012-07-13 03:59 am (UTC)I sure hope so, lol. And I'm terrible at action scenes, so don't hold your breath there.
